The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and Cavan Monaghan, T.D.,
Mr. Brendan Smith, has confirmed that three organisations in County Cavan are to benefit from funding totalling €60,000, under the Programmes of Grants for Community and Voluntary Organisations.
St. Mary’s Pastoral Council, Swanlinbar; Cross Community Hall Committee Mullagh and South West Cavan Befriendling Group, Kilnaleck, will share the allocation which has been approved Mr. John Curran T.D., Minister of State (with special responsibility for Community Affairs and the National Drugs Strategy) at the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.
The grants are particularly targeted at those addressing disadvantage in their local communities. “Despite the fact that the public finances are currently under great pressure, it is essential that we continue to support local community and voluntary groups working with disadvantage. I know that these grants will be put to good use and I wish those involved every good wish in the future”, Minister Smith said.
