Smith presents certificates on behalf of Cavan National Training Network
The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and Cavan/Monaghan T.D. Mr. Brendan Smith has presented certificates on behalf of the National Learning Network.
Speaking at a ceremony in the Hotel Kilmore, which was attended by 72 participants and their families, Minister Smith praised the National Learning Network its valuable work on behalf of people with disabilities in Cavan, “I know that the centre is very proud of the outcomes accomplished by its students, and in the last five years more than nine out of ten students from the Cavan centre have advanced to employment, or to further training. A total of 72 students from the Cavan area will receive certificates this evening. These certificates mark their achievements in a variety of FETAC, City & Guilds and ECDL courses. The additional value of FETAC certification is that it now offers prospects for all participants to progress further on the National Framework of Qualifications, should they wish to. These certificates reflect a commitment and accomplishment of a level of proficiency that is widely recognised, he said.
Acknowledging the role of the HSE and FAS in supporting the work of the National Learning Network in Cavan, the Minister said that the €958,000 provided in 2008 by FAS was absolutely key in allowing the participants avail of a high level training.
“Our thanks are due to employers in Cavan and across the region who support FÁS and the National Learning Network by offering placement and progression opportunities for participants. Without this support it would not be possible for the agencies and organisations to do their work”, he concluded.
