The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and Cavan/ Monaghan, T.D. Mr. Brendan Smith has welcomed a grant of €10,000 to the Cavan Branch of the Irish Wheelchair Association.

The grant has been approved by his colleague, the Minister of State at the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Mr. John Curran as part of the Programme Grants for Community and Voluntary Organisations. Warmly welcoming the funding, Minister Smith said: “I am delighted that despite the growing pressures on the public finances, the Government is continuing to target support at community organisations. I can think of no group more worthy than the Cavan Branch of the Irish Wheelchair Association who are doing such much marvellous work in support of people with disabilities and their families. I would like to congratulate all associated with the Branch for the success of their application and I look forward to this grant helping them to improve further the high level of service and support they offer”.
