Smith confirms funding of over €164,000 for Cavan groups from Dormant Accounts Fund


The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and Cavan/Monaghan T.D., Mr. Brendan Smith, has confirmed that the Government has approved funding for 13 separate groups in County Cavan from the Dormant Accounts Fund. The groups include sports clubs, community support projects and preschools

The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and Cavan/Monaghan T.D., Mr. Brendan Smith, has confirmed that the Government has approved funding for 13 separate groups in County Cavan from the Dormant Accounts Fund. The groups include sports clubs, community support projects and preschools.

 

As part of the RAPID Programme to tackle economic and social disadvantage, the following groups are to benefit:

 

  • Cavan Shamrock Soccer Club                     €6,000
  • Cavan Gaels GFC                                       €2,000
  • Tearmann Domestic Violence Services      €34,000
  • Cavan Amateur Boxing Club                       €10,000
  • Cavan Town Community Amenity Project,

     Sports and Leisure Complex, Drumalee      €49,000

  • Tullacmongan Resource Centre Ltd            €8,000
  • Drumalee GAA Club                                    €9,000
  • The WOW Group – Winners on Wheels      €2,500
  • Drumalee GFC                                             €4,500

 

As part of a preschool quality improvement measure, the following pre-schools in County Cavan are to benefit:

 

  • Cavan Early learning Integrated preschool

      for Travellers                                                  €10,000

  • Playaway Daycare, Killynebber                      €10,000
  • Playaway Daycare, Drumalee                        €10,000
  • Tiny Steps Preschool, Tullyacmongan

      Resource Centre                                            €9,548        

 

Confirming the funding, Minister Smith said that this was a very significant boost to a wide range of groups in County Cavan who have a particular emphasis on tackling disadvantage and working with local communities. “The Dormant Accounts Fund has been responsible for significant investment at a community level in County Cavan. I would like to congratulate the groups that have been successful recipients of funding and I look forward to them further developing their excellent work in support of local communities”, the Minister said.
