Construction to begin on new €1.2 Million Ballyjamesduff childcare facility - Smith


The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Mr. Brendan Smith has announced that construction is about to begin for a major new community childcare facility in Ballyjamesduff, County Cavan

The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Mr. Brendan Smith has announced that construction is about to begin for a major new community childcare facility in Ballyjamesduff, County Cavan.

 

Having agreed contractual arrangements with Pobal, Ballyjamesduff Community Childcare Council Ltd, who were successfully awarded the maximum grant of €1.2 million under the National Childcare Investment Programme (NCIP), are now in a position to begin construction of the new project early next week.

 

Minister Smith, who as Minister for Children approved the funding, said he was delighted that construction of this major project was now beginning. “I was delighted to have been in a position to support Ballyjamesduff Community Childcare Council Ltd. The construction of the new facility will be an enormous boost to the local community of Ballyjamesduff and will bring quality and affordable childcare to many young families in the region. The construction of the  €1.2 million project is also a very significant boost to the local economy at a very difficult time”, he said.

 

Minister Smith went on to outline how County Cavan has been one of the real success stories of Government supported childcare over the last few years.  “Under the various Childcare Programmes, I understand that County Cavan has benefited from almost €17 million in approved funding, which is leading to the provision of approximately 1,200 new childcare places and supporting a further 1,200 existing places”, he said.

 

The Minister congratulated all associated with Ballyjamesduff Community Childcare Council Ltd and said that the completion of the project would be another milestone in the proud history of the locality.
