Quinn progresses FF strategy on new schools - Smith
Fianna Fáil spokesperson on Education Brendan Smith TD has welcomed confirmation from the Education Minister Ruairí Quinn that he is pushing ahead with plans to build 40 new schools over the next six years.
Deputy Smith said: “Today’s confirmation follows on from an announcement made by the previous Government last January regarding plans to build new schools and expand and refurbish a number of existing school buildings in response to demographic needs. Indeed, 19 of the new schools in Minister Quinn’s announcement today were already announced by the previous Education Minister Mary Coughlan.
“I am pleased that Minister Quinn has today committed to progressing these plans without delay. The previous Fianna Fáil Government prioritised the need for new schools and improved resources in those areas which have expanded greatly over the past number of years.”
