Smith opens new accommodation at St. Mogue’s NS, Currin and Milltown NS, Belturbet

Total investment of over €400,000 in both schools

The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Mr. Brendan Smith has performed the official opening of new accommodation at St.Mogue’s NS, Currin and Milltown NS, Belturbet.

The new accommodation at both schools, represents an investment of €400,000 under the Government’s School Building Programme and is according to Minister Smith, yet another example of the largest ever investment in schools undertaken in County Cavan.

Speaking at Milltown NS where he opened a new junior classroom, the Minister recalled his last visit in December 2008 when he opened the new general purpose area. “ I’m delighted to be here once again to mark the official opening of this lovely new classroom which complements the state of the art facilities at this historic school”, he said.

Speaking later at St. Mogue’s NS, Currin, where he opened a new general purpose area, classroom and ancillary facilities, including a learning support room, offices and wheelchair accessible toilets, Minister Smith said: “It is a great credit to the local community that we have been able to provide a bright, modern, well equipped school for the young people in the area and very encouraging to see that numbers are increasing”.

Minister Smith congratulated the commitment of the Principals in both schools, as well as the Boards of Management and the Parents’ Associations.
