Cavan to get €1.3 million under Rural Water Programme 2011
The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Mr. Brendan Smith has confirmed that Cavan County Council has been awarded funding in excess of €1.3 million under the Rural Water Programme 2011.
The funding, will allow the County Council to upgrade group waters schemes, as well as funding the modernisation of small public water and sewerage schemes.
Minister Smith welcomed the fact that the Government was allocating such substantial funding to rural water schemes against a very difficult economic backdrop. “It’s essential that good quality drinking water is available to the whole population and that we do all in our power to prevent environmental pollution. This funding will allow the local authorities to undertake much needed work to secure and improve the quality of water available in rural areas in particular”, the Minister said.
