Minister Smith was informed by his colleague the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Mr. Barry Andrews, T.D. that he has approved funding of almost €43,000 for a youth café at Market Street, Cootehill, while the Bridge Street Youth Café in Cavan Town has been allocated a grant of over €10,000.

The funding which is part of a total package of €1.5 million from the Dormant Accounts fund was warmly welcomed by Minister Smith: “As a former Minister for Children I undertook considerable work on the development of youth cafés which are very important recreational and educational outlets for teenagers and young people. I was happy to support both these vital projects in Cavan which have received a great boost through this funding, and I would like to wish all involved every success for the future, and compliment them on the work they are doing in their local communities”, Minister Smith said.
