Further 10 post primary schools in Cavan share €330,000 computer grants-Smith


The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and Cavan/Monaghan, T.D., Mr. Brendan Smith has confirmed that a further 10 post primary schools in County Cavan have been granted funding of over €330,000 towards the purchase of high-tech computer equipment.

The grants, which are part of a €25 million package nationally, have been approved by his colleague, An Tánaiste and Minister for Education and Science, Ms. Mary Coughlan, T.D. and follows on from a similar recent announcement that totalled over €21 million and benefited many post primary schools in Cavan.

 

It also follows on from similar computer grants for primary schools which totalled almost €460,000 for County Cavan.

 

The following post primary schools are to benefit from this latest round of grants:

  • St. Clare’s College, Ballyjamesduff
  • St. Patrick’s College, Cavan
  • Loreto College, Cavan
  • St. Bricin’s VEC, Belturbet
  • St. Mogue’s College, Bawnboy
  • Breifne College, Cavan
  • Virginia College
  • St. Aidan’s Comprehensive School, Cootehill
  • Bailieborough Community School
  • Royal School, Cavan

 

 

Minister Smith said that in the past number of weeks over €1 million has been awarded in grants to primary and post primary schools in Cavan for computer equipment. “The provision of modern information technology facilities in schools is an essential component in developing elearning and is also a vital part of building the smart economy for the future”, he said.
