Smith welcomes Cavan County Enterprise Board jobs boost

The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and Cavan/Monaghan, T.D., Mr. Brendan Smith has welcomed the announcement that Cavan County Enterprise Board has been awarded funding which will lead to the direct creation of 15 new jobs.

The funding is part of an overall announcement by An Taoiseach, Mr. Brian Cowen, T.D., that an additional €3.3 million is being allocated to County and City Enterprise Boards across the country which will create jobs in small businesses.

“Job creation is the number one priority of this Government. Although there are signs that the unemployment situation is stabilising, there is still a great need to create new opportunities and protect existing jobs, especially here in County Cavan.

Although it is a small amount of jobs, it is nonetheless a significant announcement that will benefit a number of smaller local industries. Cavan County Enterprise Board has a long and highly successful record of supporting jobs in this County and I would like to compliment Chief Executive Mr. Vincent Reynolds and his highly motivated team for their ongoing excellent work in supporting local industry and business”, Minister Smith said.
