Virginia College awarded €85,500 grant for metalwork and woodwork equipment-Smith


The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and Cavan/Monaghan T.D., Mr. Brendan Smith has confirmed that funding in excess of €85,500 has been awarded to Virginia College for the purchase of new metalwork and woodwork equipment.

Minister Smith confirmed that his colleague, An Tánaiste and Minister for Education and Skills, Mary Coughlan, T.D. had approved the funding which follows on from a series of announcements in recent times that has seen considerable investment in the College and additional new permanent accommodation will also be provided.

 

“Virginia College is one of the finest educational establishments in County Cavan, a fact that has been recognised repeatedly by this Government through the provision of substantial grant aid, most recently reflected in its inclusion in the Summer Works Scheme, 2010. Schools all over County Cavan continue to benefit from the largest ever school building and development programme.

 

This substantial grant, will allow the College to further enhance the quality of the technical training for which it is renowned”, Minister Smith said.
