More schools in Cavan approved for grant aid - Smith

Local Minister confirms funding for St. Bricin’s College, Belturbet and Corlurgan National School

The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and Cavan/Monaghan, T.D., Mr. Brendan Smith has confirmed that St. Bricin’s College, Belturbet and Corlurgan National School, have been awarded grant aid towards improvements at both schools.

Minister Smith said that he was informed by his colleague, An Tánaiste and Minister for Education and Skills, Ms. Mary Coughlan, T.D. that St. Bricin’s College is to receive funding for a new security system, while Corlurgan National School has been approved for funding to upgrade sewerage facilities and roof repairs.

Welcoming the approval of the funding, Minister Smith noted that St. Bricin’s was recently approved for funding to provide an off-street bus parking area, as well as being one of 34 schools across County Cavan who were included in this year’s Summer Works Scheme. He further noted that the County as a whole was enjoying the largest ever investment programme in upgrading buildings and facilities and that he was delighted that this was continuing.
