€400,000 boost for Cavan water and sewerage services

The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and Cavan Monaghan, T.D., Mr. Brendan Smith has welcomed funding of almost €400,000 to Cavan County Council to assist in the running costs of their water and sewerage treatment plants and the sampling and licensing cost associated with the water services sector

The funding, which has been approved by his colleague, Mr. John Gormley. T.D., Minister for Environment, Heritage and Local Government comes from the Local Government Fund and is specifically targeted at recently completed water and wastewater treatment plants.

“The operation of water and wastewater plants can be extremely expensive and this additional funding approved by my Government colleague, Minister Gormley, will allow Cavan County Council to maintain the standards that are essential for these vital public services”, the Minister said.
