€15,000 for Cavan groups under Scheme of Community Support for Older People -SMITH
The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and Cavan/Monaghan T.D. Mr. Brendan Smith has welcomed the awarding of further grant aid under the Scheme of Community Support for Older People to a number of groups in Cavan. Ballyconnell Active Retirement Group, Cootehill Community Alert and Tullacmongan Golden Oldies are to share in grants totalling €15,100.
According to Minister Smith, the Scheme, which funds security measures for older people living in their own home has benefited scores of groups in Cavan over the last nine years. “It has brought great peace of mind to many, many older people in our community and I am delighted that further groups have been approved for funding. I’d like to offer my congratulations to Ballyconnell Active Retirement Group, Cootehill Community Alert and Tullacmongan Golden Oldies, who are doing such excellent work in support of the local community and trust that this funding will allow them carry it on”, Minister Smith said.
