Additional Facilities on Shannon/Erne Waterway in Belturbet - SMITH
The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and Cavan Monaghan, T.D., Mr. Brendan Smith has received confirmation from Waterways Ireland that they are currently working with Cavan County Council on the outline design for a new service block in Belturbet which will provide toilets and showers for waterways users.
Minister Smith has welcomed this confirmation from Waterways Ireland Chief Executive and he also stated that Waterways Ireland have installed a new pump-out on the floating jetty in Belturbet to facilitate the emptying of boat waste holding tanks.
The Cavan/ Monaghan Fianna Fáil T.D. added that the Shannon/Erne Waterway is a very important resource for tourism in the Cavan, Fermanagh and Leitrim areas and he has asked Waterways Ireland and the Council to progress, as quickly as possible, the proposal to provide additional facilities.
