€72,000 for flood relief works at Crosskeys Bridge-SMITH
The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and Cavan/Monaghan, T.D., Mr. Brendan Smith has announced that a grant of €72,000 has been approved for flood relief works at Crosskeys Bridge, County Cavan.
The grant follows extensive representations by Minister Smith to his colleague the Minister of State at the Department of Finance with responsibility for the Office of Public Works, Dr. Martin Mansergh, T.D., who has approved it as a part of a package of flood relief funding.
The funding will allow for the replacement of culverts, the construction of a large access chamber, resurfacing over the bridge and culverts, as well cleaning of the river down stream from the bridge.
Local Councillor Gerry Murray welcomed the announcement of the grant which he said was very timely and would be very well received by the local community of Crosskeys.
