Smith welcomes further investment in Cavan schools
The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and Cavan/Monaghan T.D. Mr. Brendan Smith, has announced further funding for schools in County Cavan.
The Minister confirmed that his colleague, the Minister for Education and Science, Mr. Batt O’Keeffe T.D. has informed him that funding has now been approved for new fencing at the sports field at Virginia College and for a car park and set down area at St. Felim’s NS, Baillieborough.
“This is the latest in a series of recent funding announcements for schools in the County and reflects this Government’s ongoing commitment to improving and modernising school buildings and facilities. Despite the very serious pressures on our public finances, the Government has chosen to continue investing in what is essentially the future of our country”, the Minister said.
The Cavan/Monaghan T.D., complimented school Principals, Ms. Karen Fitzpatrick and Mr. Ciarán McKenna and their respective Boards of Management, wishing them every success for the future.
