New Garda station for Bailieborough -SMITH
The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and Cavan/Monaghan, T.D., Mr. Brendan Smith has confirmed that significant progress has been made in the provision of a new Garda Station for Bailieborough.
The Minister confirmed that the Office of Public Works are now seeking expressions of interest from suitable property owners in the town for sites between 1 and 1.5 acres or buildings on comparable sized plots.
“This is a very significant step towards a much needed new Garda station for Bailieborough which is a District Headquarters and caters for up to 80 Gardaí. The existing station is inadequate to meet modern accommodation requirements, necessitating the decision to include it on the priority list for 2010-11. The people of the town and its surrounding area will welcome the provision of a new station for An Garda Siochana which provides essential services for the people of Bailieborough and a very wide catchment area”, Minister Smith said.
