More groups to benefit under Scheme of Community Support for Older People
The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and Cavan/Monaghan T.D. Mr. Brendan Smith has welcomed the awarding of funding in excess of €26,400 to four groups in County Cavan under the very successful Scheme of Community Support for Older People.
The successful groups are:
- Ballinagh Senior Citizens
- Ballyjamesduff Senior Social Club
- Denn Age and Opportunity
- SVDP Bailieborough
The Scheme, which funds security measures for older people living in their own homes, was recently reinstated after a review which involved extensive consultation with interested stakeholders.
Welcoming the funding, Minister Smith said that since 2002, the Scheme of Community Support for Older People has had a very real and positive impact across County Cavan. “ It has brought great peace of mind to many, many older people in our community and I am delighted that yet more groups have been approved for funding. I’d like to offer my congratulations to all involved in these groups who are doing such excellent work in support of the local community and trust that this funding will allow them carry it on”, Minister Smith said.
