More School Accommodation Approved

Mr. Brendan Smith, T.D., Minister of State has announced that the Minister for Education and Science, Ms. Mary Hanafin, T.D., has now approved the provision of additional temporary accommodation at Crubany, Knocktemple, St. Killians, Mullagh and Farnham National Schools.

Minister Smith stated that these approvals for additional accommodation follow on from increased enrolments at each of these Schools.

The Cavan-Monaghan Fianna Fáil T.D. also announced that remediation works have been approved for the roof at Bailieborough Community School and these works will be fully funded by the Department of Education and Science and managed by the Office of Public Works.

Minister Smith stated that these recent approvals by the Minister for Education and Science, Ms. Mary Hanafin T.D. follow on from her recent decision to include Castletara, Muff (Laragh Number 2), Killyconnan and Crosskeys Central National Schools in this years School Building Programme under the Devolved Scheme. This scheme will enable the refurbishment of existing facilities and in some instances provide new facilities at those Schools.

Minister Smith stated that the largest ever School Building Programme is underway throughout County Cavan this year and he added that further announcements regarding this programme will be made over the coming months.
