€14 Million for Cavan Housing
Mr. Brendan Smith T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture and Food has welcomed the decision by the Minister for Housing and Urban Renewal, Mr. Noel Ahern, T.D. to allocate €14.05 million in respect of the Housing Programme for County Cavan for 2006
Minister Smith stated that €12.75 million has been allocated to Cavan County Council, comprising €11 million for housing construction, €250,000 for traveller accommodation and €1.5 million for remedial works. He added that €1.3 million is being allocated to Cavan Town Council comprising €1 million for housing construction and €300,000 for remedial works. He added that this major funding will enable the Councils to continue their record house building programme.
The Cavan Monaghan Fianna Fáil Deputy added that in recent years the largest ever housing programmes have been undertaken throughout all of the county and that this year’s construction programme will once again enhance considerably the housing stock throughout the county enabling the councils to continue the rapid housing programme of recent years.
