Hospital building project goes to tender


Mr Brendan Smith, T.D., Minister of State has been informed by the Health Service Executive that the building project to provide 21 additional beds and fourth operating theatre in Cavan General Hospital will go to tender this week. 

Minister Smith was further informed that enabling works in respect of this development will commence this week at the hospital.

 

The Cavan-Monaghan Fianna Fáil T.D. stated that the additional 21 beds and theatre will be situated in the shelled out area of the hospital that has not been commissioned.

 

Minister Smith also stated that the proposal to provide a new modular building for Cardiac Rehabilitation Outpatients is being progressed and that the provision of this building will in turn facilitate the converting back of a 5-bed ward for inpatients.

 

Minister Smith stated that these projects are of the utmost importance for Cavan General Hospital and that these developments will mean an investment well in excess of €7 million.  He has asked the Health Service Executive to have these new facilities provided as quickly as possible.
