Contract placed for Major Building Project at Cavan General Hospital
Mr Brendan Smith T.D. Minister of State has announced that the Health Service Executive have now selected the Contractor in respect of the Building Project to provide 21 additional beds and a fourth Operating Theatre at Cavan General Hospital.
Minister Smith stated that the Health Service Executive expect that work will commence on this Project by the end of this month and the overall investment is in the region of €7.55 million. He added that the 21 additional beds and new theatre will be situated in the shelled out area of the hospital that was not commissioned when the Hospital opened.
The Cavan/Monaghan Fianna Fáil T.D. also stated that the proposal to provide a new modular building for Cardiac Rehabilitation Outpatients is nearing completion and that the provision of this building will in turn facilitate the converting back of a 5-bed ward for inpatients and the overall cost of that Project is in the region of €750,000.
Minister Smith stated that these Projects are of the utmost importance for Cavan General Hospital and this very significant financial investment is a clear indication of the major role that Cavan General Hospital will continue to play in the delivery of Health Services in its catchment area. He complimented the Minister for Health & Children, Ms Mary Harney T.D., the Officials in Cavan General Hospital and in the Health Service Executive who have been involved in progressing this Project to this stage of development
