Mr Brendan Smith, T.D., Minister of State has announced that building work can now commence on the provision of a new school building for St. Clare’s National School, Ballyjamesduff.  He added that this building project will now proceed following the granting of approval by the Minister for Education and Science, Ms Mary Hanafin, T.D., to the Board of Management to place the contract.

Minister Smith stated that this new 8 classroom school will also include ancillary accommodation consisting of Library/Resource Room, Special Education Room, Staff Room, Principal’s Office, Administration Office and Multi-Purpose Room.

The Cavan/Monaghan Fianna Fáil Deputy added that this decision by the Minister will mean a major financial investment in providing state of the art school accommodation for the primary school going population of the general Ballyjamesduff area.  He complimented the Board of Management and the Parents’ Association on their work in advancing this project.

Minister Smith stated that the largest ever school building programme is underway in Co. Cavan this year and is clear evidence of this Government’s commitment to the upgrading of existing school accommodation and the provision of new school facilities.
