Tuesday last was a significant day in the history of the Parish of Lavey when Minister of State, Brendan Smith T.D. turned the sod for a major building project at Aughadreena National School.

Minister Smith turned the sod on a new development that comprises the refurbishment and extension of Aughadreena National School.

“This building project will mean an investment in the region of €500,000 in new facilities at Aughadreena National School and I compliment Mr Aiden McCabe, Principal, Fr. Oliver Kelly, Chairman of the Board of Management and his Board and the Parents’ Association on their work in bringing this Project to construction stage.  These new facilities will ensure that the Primary school-going population of the Upper Lavey  area will have the most modern facilities and is a welcome investment in the education infrastructure of this area” stated Minister Smith.
