Funding approved for Cootehill Day Care Centre
Mr Brendan Smith T.D. Minister of State and Senator Diarmuid Wilson have received confirmation from the Health Service Executive that funding to establish services on a five-day week basis for Cootehill Day Care Centre has now been secured, within the overall allocation for services for older people in Cavan and Monaghan.
The Fianna Fáil Cootehill based Councillors Michael McCarey, Sean Igoe and Gerry McDonagh have warmly welcomed this confirmation and they stated that this new service will add considerably to the delivery of health services for people in the general Cootehill area.
Minister Smith was informed in the correspondence from the Health Service Executive that it is intended that the Service will be delivered through a voluntary sector service provider.
“In that regard, a planning exercise is underway, this process involves consultation with a wide range of stakeholders so as to ensure an appropriate service is commissioned. We hope to have agreed a service level agreement including the details of services required by end of April this year. We intend to commence full operational services through a voluntary sector provider in June this year” stated the Health Service Executive reply to Minister Smith.
Councillor McCarey, along with Minister Smith, paid tribute to the local people who had worked towards the provision of this Service and they also complimented Officials of the Health Service Executive both at Cavan/Monaghan Area level and at National level for their help in bringing forward this worthwhile service for the people of the wider Cootehill area.
