Three new Group Water Schemes in Co. Monaghan


Mr. Brendan Smith T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture & Food performed the Official Opening on Monday last of three major rural water treatment plants in Co. Monaghan.  The new plants service the Killanny/Reaghstown, Aughnashalvey and Tydavnet Group Water Schemes.

Minister Smith stated that in recent years in Co. Monaghan under the Rural Water Programme over €20 Million has been invested in the construction of 13 new water treatment plants, the renewal of the pipe network and the construction of new reservoirs.  He added that as a result of this investment 5,000 rural households in Co. Monaghan now have access to a top quality and highly reliable water supply.

 

Minister Smith added that this year €125 Million is being spent nationally on upgrading the rural water network.
