Following representations Minister of State Brendan Smith, T.D., has been informed by Teagasc that they will continue to provide a service for farmers in Bailieborough as demand requires.
Teagasc stated that in the short term this service will be provided from the Teagasc Offices in Bailieborough.
Minister of State Smith stated that he, along with local Public Representatives in Co. Cavan and Farming Organisations had conveyed to Teagasc their concerns about the imminent closure of this Office and particularly the difficulties that could be created for some farmers with the important paperwork and form filling that needs to be attended to in the next few months.
Minister Smith added that at his request Senior Management of Teagasc met with a deputation from Co. Cavan Executive I.F.A. last week. The Minister understands from Teagasc Senior Management that the issues raised in relation to the delivery of advisory services to the farming community in the East Cavan area are being given further consideration.
