New Fire Appliance for Cavan County Council


Mr Brendan Smith, T.D., Minister for Food and Horticulture has welcomed the decision of the Minister of State, Mr Batt O’Keeffe, T.D., to sanction Cavan County Council’s proposal to purchase a further new fire appliance for its fire service.  Minister O’Keeffe will provide a grant of over € 287,000 to the Council to meet the full cost of this appliance.

Mr Brendan Smith, T.D., Minister for Food and Horticulture has welcomed the decision of the Minister of State, Mr Batt O’Keeffe, T.D., to sanction Cavan County Council’s proposal to purchase a further new fire appliance for its fire service.  Minister O’Keeffe will provide a grant of over € 287,000 to the Council to meet the full cost of this appliance.

 

Minister Smith stated that the provision of this new appliance is a further indication of the Council’s commitment to the development of its fire and emergency services for the benefit of the people of Cavan by replacing older first response vehicles with new modern high-spec appliances. 

 

“This decision follows on the recent decision of the Minister to accept a tender in respect of the construction of the new Fire Station in Cootehill.  In recent years there has been a very welcome investment in the Fire Service throughout Co. Cavan including the provision of new Fire Stations at Bailieborough and Dowra and in recent years the Department funded the provision of 7 new fire appliances for the Council”, concluded Minister Smith.
