Housing Project for Lough Gowna
Mr. Brendan Smith T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture and Food has announced that €1,118,400 has been approved in respect of the provision of a housing project at Lough Gowna.
Minister Smith stated that this funding has been approved by the Minister for Housing and Urban Renewal Mr. Noel Ahern T.D. and the funding will enable the provision of 8 units of accommodation under his Department’s Capital Assistance Scheme for Voluntary Housing Projects.
Local Fianna Fáil Councillor Danny Brady and Minister Smith complimented Lough Gowna Housing Association Limited and Cavan County Council on their initiative in bringing this project so far and he added that the housing units will be for elderly persons.
Councillor Brady also welcomed Minister Smith’s recent announcement that the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs Mr. Eamon O’Cuív T.D. has now sanctioned €10,000 under the CLÁR Village and Countryside Enhancement Scheme to facilitate works on a car park beside Lough Gowna. Councillor Brady stated funding totalling €30,000 will be available for this project and the funding is being provided by Cavan County Council, Cavan/Monaghan Leader Company and the CLÁR Programme.
