Minister Smith Welcomes Strong Performance For 1st Quarter 2005

Brendan Smith T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture and Food welcomes Statement from Micheál Martin, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment outlining the very positive labour market figures in the 1st. Quarter 2005, Quarterly National Household Survey released by the Central Statistics Office.
Minister Martin said “The figures show a continuing strong performance in employment terms with over 72,000 extra persons at work compared to the same quarter last year. This is equivalent to an annual increase of 3.9%, a rate of increase which is well ahead of the growth rates experienced in other European countries”.
Minister Smith stated that Minister Martin’s Statement clearly indicates the strength and the growth of our economy.
