Funding for School play areas


Mr Brendan Smith, T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture and Food has welcomed the decision by the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Mr Éamon Ó Cuiv, T.D., to allocate funding towards the improvement of outdoor play facilities at Crossreagh National School, Billis National School and Ballynarry National School.

Mr Brendan Smith, T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture and Food has welcomed the decision by the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Mr Éamon Ó Cuiv, T.D., to allocate funding towards the improvement of outdoor play facilities at Crossreagh National School, Billis National School and Ballynarry National School.

 

Minister Smith stated that Minister Ó Cuiv in his correspondence stated that grant assistance of € 7,500 would be provided in respect of the play area facilities at both Crossreagh National School and Billis National School and

€ 3,450 in respect of the play facilities at Ballynarry National School.

 

Minister Smith stated that this funding is being provided under the CLÁR Programme and it is specifically aimed at improving outdoor play facilities in small rural primary schools in CLÁR areas.  He added that the type of project being funded cover grassing/tarmacadam of play areas, the supply of goal posts, nets, basketballs hoops etc and other recreational facilities for outdoor play areas.
