€450,000 for Ballyconnell Civic Amenity Site
Mr. Brendan Smith T.D. Minister of State has announced that the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government Mr. Dick Roche T.D. has now approved grant assistance of €450,000 to Cavan County Council towards the provision of a Civic Amenity Facility in Ballyconnell.
Minister Roche in his correspondence to Minister Smith stated that the allocation is made under the Waste Infrastructure Capital Grants Scheme, which is funded by monies from the Environment Fund. He added that the Scheme is targeted at recycling infrastructure provided by local authorities and focuses assistance on waste recovery and recycling activities and facilities.
Minister Smith stated that the provision of these facilities at local level will help to raise awareness and allow the general public to make an increased and significant contribution to our national recycling effort.
Local Fianna Fáil Councillor Sean Smith stated that this grant assistance of almost €0.5 million will enable the County Council to provide a state of the art facility which will have the most modern recycling facilities and will be of great benefit to the people over a wide area of West Cavan.
