Health Centre for Ballinagh
Mr Brendan Smith, T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture and Food and Senator Diarmuid Wilson have been informed by the Health Service Executive, North East Area that design work has been progressing well in relation to the provision of a new Health Centre in Ballinagh following the decision last year by the Minister for Health and Children to allow this project to proceed.
The Health Service Executive in their response to representations by Minister Smith and Senator Wilson stated that they are currently finalising some details prior to the submission of Stage 2 of planning and design to the Department. The Health Service Executive expect that this submission will be made very shortly and it is not anticipated that there will be any significant difficulty in obtaining approval to proceed to Stage 3 of this process.
Minister Smith stated that the Health Service Executive expect that with the satisfactory completion of Stage 2 and Stage 3 submissions that it should be possible to have work commence before the end of this year.
Senator Wilson stated that along with former Councillor Charlie Fleming and Minister Smith he had outlined to the Health Service Executive and to the Department of Health the need to have this facility provided as soon as possible. The Fianna Fáil Senator added that he welcomed the substantial progress made to date and he stated that this project will mean an investment in the region of €1 Million.
