Contracts placed for Lacken & Butlersbridge National Schools.


Mr Brendan Smith, T.D., has announced that the Minister for Education and Science, Mr Noel Dempsey, T.D., has now approved the placement of the contracts for major building projects at Lacken and Butlersbridge National Schools and this will now enable work to commence at both schools.

Deputy Smith stated that the major building project at Butlersbridge National School consists of the provision of one extra classroom, library/resource room, special tuition room, staff room, administration room and the general refurbishment of existing accommodation.  He added that the provision of this modern accommodation will mean an investment well in excess of € 900,000.

 

The Fianna Fáil Deputy told The Anglo-Celt that the major building project at Lacken National School consists of the conversion of two existing classrooms into one standard sized classroom, retention of remaining classroom, provision of library and resource area, special tuition room and multipurpose/staff room, construction of extension incorporating one classroom and General Purpose Room and associated refurbishment  works.

 

Deputy Smith stated that this building project at Lacken will provide the school with the most modern facilities and it entails an investment well in excess of € 1 Million and it is a clear vote of confidence in the future of rural communities.  He added that this major building project at Lacken National School follows on the recent approval from the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, Mr John O’Donoghue, T.D., of € 180,000 to Lacken G.F.C. in respect of the development of their playing grounds.
