Major funding for Housing Grants
Mr Brendan Smith, T.D., has been informed by the Minister for Housing and Urban Renewal, Mr Noel Ahern, T.D., that he has now allocated € 2,700,000 to Cavan County Council for 2004 for the payment of Disabled Persons and Essential Repairs Grants.

The Minister in response to representations by Deputy Smith on behalf of the Fianna Fáil Councillors seeking additional funding for the Disabled Persons and Essential Repairs Grants Schemes in Co. Cavan stated that this major funding of € 2.7 Million will meet two thirds of the expenditure to be incurred by the Council in payment of these grants.
Deputy Smith stated that adequate funding for these important housing grant schemes is absolutely essential.
