Mr Brendan Smith, T.D., and Senator Diarmuid Wilson have welcomed the additional funding of € 618,000 to Cavan County Council for the Non-National Roads Programme for 2004.
Deputy Smith stated that the projects to benefit under this additional allocation by the Minister for the Environment and Local Government, Mr Martin Cullen, T.D., includes the Cornakill/Kingscourt Road and some Class 2 and 3 local roads.
Deputy Smith stated that this funding will mean further significant improvements in road conditions throughout the county and will contribute to the rapid continuation of the roads restoration programme which has been underway for a number of years.
The Fianna Fáil Oireachtas Members stated that well in excess of € 30 Million will be invested this year in upgrading and improving the roads and laneways in Co. Cavan and this will enable a substantial roadworks programme to be undertaken throughout all of the county.
