Additional funding for Housing Grants


Mr Brendan Smith, T.D., and Senator Diarmuid Wilson  have been informed by the Minister for Housing and Urban Renewal, Mr Noel Ahern, T.D., that he has now made an additional capital allocation of € 322,383 to Cavan County Council for the payment of Disabled Persons and Essential Repairs Grants in 2004.

Mr Brendan Smith, T.D., and Senator Diarmuid Wilson  have been informed by the Minister for Housing and Urban Renewal, Mr Noel Ahern, T.D., that he has now made an additional capital allocation of € 322,383 to Cavan County Council for the payment of Disabled Persons and Essential Repairs Grants in 2004.

 

The Minister in his correspondence to Deputy Smith stated that this additional allocation will now bring Cavan County Council’s total allocation for the year for the Disabled Persons and Essential Repairs Grants to € 3,022,383 and will meet two-thirds of the expenditure to be incurred by the Council in payment of these grants.

 

The Cavan/Monaghan Fianna Fáil T.D. stated that these schemes are particularly important for the elderly people and he welcomed this substantial funding.
