Mr. Brendan Smith, T.D. Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has welcomed the allocation of €32,000 to Cavan County Council for public education and awareness initiatives to combat litter and graffiti.
“I very much welcome this funding to Cavan County Council which will greatly assist them in the fight against litter and graffiti. Although there has been significant improvements in recent years due in no small way to the excellent work of the County Council, litter and graffiti in some areas remains a problem.
Education and awareness, especially targeted at young people, are vital in highlighting that those who litter or deface through graffiti, are damaging the whole community. I look forward to Cavan County Council utilising this Government funding in their continuing work for a litter and graffiti free environment”, Minister Smith said.
