€30,000 dormant accounts boost for Cavan RAPID projects
The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and Cavan/Monaghan, T.D., Mr. Brendan Smith has confirmed that two RAPID projects in Cavan tackling social and economic disadvantage, are to share in an allocation totalling €30,000 from the Dormant Accounts Fund.
Junior Achievement Ireland have been awarded €18,000 to run an enterprise challenge programme in three schools in the Cavan RAPID Area. These schools are St. Clare’s NS, St. Phelim’s Boy’s NS and Cavan No.1 school, Farnham Street. In addition, Briefne College is to receive €12,000 to develop a special needs room that will concentrate on the use of IT software.
Minister Smith confirmed that he was informed of the funding by his colleague, the Minister for Community Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Mr. Eamon O’Cuiv, T.D., and it is a very welcome boost to the two projects.
“Dormant Accounts funding for RAPID projects has already had a big impact in Cavan and this funding will allow these two projects to carry out essential support work on behalf of the local community. I would like to offer my sincere congratulations to all involved”, the Minister said.
Local Councillor, Patricia Walsh also warmly welcomed the funding announcement which she said was very well deserved.
