Smith performs official opening of Ballyjamesduff childcare facility
The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and former Minister for Children, Brendan Smith T.D., has performed the official opening of Whitetree Montessori and Crèche Ltd, Ballyjamesduff.
Thanking the owner Ms. Verona Clarke for the invitation, the Minister outlined how Whitetree Montessori and Crèche will be at the heart of the community of Ballyjamesduff, providing pre-school care, after school care and a Saturday Club for children in the area.
Minister Smith also emphasised the key role childcare plays in enabling parents to engage in employment, education and training. “It has also been shown to be very beneficial for children as it helps to promote their social, psychological and educational development. The benefits gained by children at a young age will endure to adulthood and will be garnered, not only by the individual child, but by society as a whole”, he said.
In conclusion, he congratulated Verona Clarke and her team who had “the vision to develop this excellent facility, and I’m sure that this service will meet the needs of parents in the local community, and will continue to do so well into the future”.
