Mr. Brendan Smith, T.D., Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has welcomed an allocation of €377,781 to Cavan County Council for the upkeep of local roads.
The grant is part of an allocation under the 2008 CLAR Programme which has been provided by the Department of Transport and the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.
The funding will allow Cavan County Council to fund minor projects in addition to those already selected under their work Programme for 2008.
Minister Smith said that the grant was most welcome as it would allow Cavan County Council to undertake further work in upgrading local roads in isolated rural areas where people often experience isolation.
