Smith opens Templeport Crèche
Mr. Brendan Smith, T.D., Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food was in his home parish of Templeport (Sunday 31 August) to perform the official opening of Little Folks World Crèche.
Expressing his delight at being in his home place “among so many familiar faces to celebrate what is a very happy event for our local community”, the Minister went on to say: “the development of such a wonderful facility is a testament to a vibrant community which has risen to meet local childcare needs”.
He outlined how childcare plays a key role in enabling parents to engage in employment, education and training. It has also been shown to be very beneficial for children as it helps to promote their social, psychological and educational development. The benefits gained by children at a young age will endure to adulthood and will be garnered, not only by the individual child, but by society as a whole.
Minister Smith expressed his congratulations to owner Ms. Vanessa Donohue and her team for developing a service that is meeting the needs of parents in the local community so well, and will continue to do so into the future.
In conclusion he said: “As the former Minister for Children, I have had the pleasure to be present at the opening of many new childcare facilities in Cavan and throughout the country. Nothing to date has given me more pleasure than being here today in my home parish for this great occasion”.
